About the Foundation
Steve Dwyer was a dedicated and loving father of three young boys, an outstanding athlete, and a selfless giver of his time and talents. He exercised with his boys; he coached their sports teams; he played with them. Steve encouraged his boys to do their best in everything they did. He inspired them to never quit. While assigned to the U.S. Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers), Steve’s time with his boys was cut short on November 10, 2023, when he tragically died in a helicopter crash during a deployment overseas. His sons were 7, 5, and 3.
The DWYERFIRE Goldstar Foundation exists to pick up where Steve left off and support his three sons and all other Gold Star Children who share this devastating story. Our mission is to honor the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice by nurturing their children's physical and emotional well-being, fostering resilience, and helping them reach their fullest potential. We aim to create a community where Gold Star Children can thrive, grow, and carry forward the legacy of their fallen heroes. Through sports and fitness-focused mentorship and support, the DWYERFIRE Goldstar Foundation will rally behind Gold Star Children and help create opportunities for personal development, instill resilience, and inspire hope for a better future. The DWYERFIRE Goldstar Foundation stands as a beacon of support, ensuring that all Gold Star Children excel during their journey to adulthood.
Through the lens of athletics, we see a future where these children flourish, realizing their full potential and embodying the unassailable spirit of their fallen heroes. Through the DWYERFIRE Goldstar Foundation, we envision developing communities across the country composed of Steve Dwyer Foundation Teammates, an army of volunteers that empower Gold Star Children by providing role models and mentors actively engaged in their sports and fitness journeys. DWYERFIRE Goldstar activities will include sports camps, weightlifting workshops, equipment donations and league participation scholarships. We will provide Gold Star Children a competitive advantage on the field, enabling them to excel in their chosen sport. The DWYERFIRE Goldstar Foundation is committed to shaping resilient Gold Star Children into young leaders who navigate life’s challenges with strength, determination, and the support of a dedicated community.

Our Activities
The DWYERFIRE Goldstar Foundation will execute its mission through the following activities:

Coordinate meet and greets for Gold Star Children with professional athletes and coaching staff

Facilitate community “Play Catch” events with Gold Star Children and DWYERFIRE Mentors

Provide Gold Star Children a competitive advantage with individualized training and fitness programs including access to professional-level coaches and sports psychologists

Organize cheer sections for Gold Star Children during their local sports competitions

Donate sports equipment for Gold Star Children
06
Fund scholarships for Gold Star Children to play in local sports leagues and attend summer sports camps
